Mr. Jacobs is responsible for leading the planning, development, maintenance, and use of the Department’s Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA). The BEA, required by statute, is utilized by the Department to guide and inform defense business system investment decisions of more than $7B annually. Prior to being selected as the Director, Technology and Innovation, Mr. Jacobs served as Chief Business Enterprise Architect for the Department of Defense. Previously, Mr. Jacobs held various positions within the Department of the Navy (DON) including, DON Chief Enterprise Architect, Department of the Navy Next Generation Enterprise Network Task Force Lead, and Heavyweight Torpedo Engineering Manager. In the latter position Mr. Jacobs was responsible for all hardware, software, and electronics upgrades for the Fleet’s premier submarine launched torpedo. Prior to these assignments Mr. Jacobs held various engineering and project management positions within the DON. Mr. Jacobs is the recipient of a Fed 100 Award, a Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, and a Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
